From the clock tower to the Parc des Bains, discover the old center of the city-prefecture. Hidden treasures and invisible places….
Discovering a discreet city
This 15-station route through the old town of Lons-le-Saunier reveals the city’s built and landscaped heritage. This can be discovered in the broadest sense, from the most prestigious building to the most modest, from the oldest to the most recent. It is complemented by the know-how and memories of historical practices.
Thanks to the “Archistoire” application, this guided tour takes place along major public spaces. You’ll discover the Rue des Arcades, the Place de la Liberté, the planted promenades and the Parc des Bains “Edouard-Guénon” –find out more on the Tourist Office website.
The story focuses on the city center. The reconstruction of the city walls provides an insight into the city’s development and the layout of its streets and squares.
The walk is enhanced by sounds, which are triggered when you fly over the places where they are integrated. This is how we find Rouget de Lisle, a famous native of Lons, singing the Marseillaise.
Contemporary architecture and street art punctuate the city.
